HTML Bundler Plugin for Webpack

The plugin automates the creation of complete web pages by processing HTML templates with linked assets. It resolves dependencies, compiles templates, and ensures that the output HTML contains correct output URLs.

Install

What does the HTML Bundler do?

Treats HTML as an entry point: Initiates the build process from HTML, allowing direct inclusion of source asset files like scripts and styles.
Processes HTML templates: Supports various template engines such as EJS, Handlebars, Nunjucks, Pug, and more.
Handles dependencies: Resolves source files referenced in HTML, such as SCSS, JS, images, updating their references with correct output URLs.
Inlines resources: Provides options to inline JavaScript, CSS, and images.
Generates preload tags: Creates <link rel="preload"> tags for assets to enhance resource loading.
Generates integrity attributes: Adds integrity attributes to <link> and <script> tags to ensure resource integrity and security.

Inline <img src="icon.svg">:
- OLD: replaces <img> with <svg> tag
- NEW: inline SVG as base64-encoded data URL. Use new svg.inline.embed = true option to keep old behavior.
Encoding of data URL:
- OLD: defaults, escaped URL (#% chars only), e.g. data:image/svg+xml,<svg>...</svg>
- NEW:
  - defaults, base64 encoded, e.g. data:image/svg+xml;base64,iVBO...
  - full escaped URL, e.g. data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20... regards generator.dataUrl.encoding option.

✨ Features

Added support the ?inline URL query to force inline an image as dataURL in HTML, JS and CSS. The encoding can be specified using a query value (base64 or escape):

When inlining SVG as a data URL, consider Webpack's generator.dataUrl() and generator.dataUrl.encoding options.

BREAKING CHANGES

Minimum supported Node.js version 18+.\ The plugin may works on the Node.js >= 16.20.0, but we can't test the plugin with outdated Node.js versions. GitHub CI test works only on Node.js >= 18. Many actual dev dependencies requires Node.js >= 18.
